(It is surprising how many books on the market have outdated information on these numbers!) There are many excellent travel-guides-to-Europe that tell you about museums, hotels, restaurants, etc. The problem is they fail to tell you how to really "get around". This is where Backpacking Through Europe comes into play as your "travel guru". We recommend that you pick up one of those books *and* Backpacking Through Europe. That's how to do it right!

The information contained within can be found on the internet and other more interesting and more informational guides. It is not worth the price.Some of the information contained within seemed a bit on the shady side also. Such as advice on how to run away from non-government security people, and sneak illegally into hotels. Not recommended for travelers hoping to avoid trouble. There was just not enough good information contained within the book to make this a good buy. A list of recommended documents in addition to the necessary ones (passport, airline tickets). He makes sure to mention that any traveler should have 3 photocopies of the front pages of their passport (good security tip) a Hostel Card and an International Student ID card. Tons of lists of phone numbers for every situation, from getting a passport quickly to current websites for getting money saving rail passes. 2. Detailed lists of what to pack - geared to the BACKPACKER. Clearly, backpackers aren't going to want any extra weight and the author keeps this in mind.
